Over last winter, the San Diego Padres made a series of moves to, essentially, overhaul the roster, basically telling the fan base in San Diego “We are all in for 2015”. Part of the overhaul involved a whole new starting outfield. One of the moves they made was acquiring slugger Justin Upton (Chesapeake) from the Atlanta Braves. So far in 2015, he has paid off.
Justin Upton is batting .262 with 14 HR, 46 RBIs, 16 Stolen Bases (no caught stealing!) for the Friars, and on Monday he was rewarded for his exploits by being named to the NL all-star team by NL manager Bruce Bochy.
Upton is only the 7th ballplayer ever from Virginia to be a 3-time all-star.
