When Orioles RH Mike Wright (Tides ’14-’15) made his major league debut on May 17th and held the Angels in check, he left quite a first impression. He threw 7 1/3 scoreless innings for his first ML win, and one wondered what he would do for an encore.
One could argue that he was even more dominant.
On Saturday, he got the start against the free-falling Miami Marlins, and while Miami ultimately won the game, 1-0 in 13 innings, Wright did his part to help the Orioles win. He threw 7 innings and allowed only 3 hits-ALL OF THEM SINGLES!-while walking 3 (2 of them intentional) and striking out 4.
Wright has thrown 14 1/3 innings of scoreless ball over 2 starts in the major leagues.
It would appear that Mike Wright is in the big leagues to stay with Baltimore.
