The Boston Red Sox, owners of 3 World titles since the turn of the century, had some pre-season expectations this year to again make the postseason. But things are not looking good in Red Sox nation. They have lost 7 of 8, 8 of their last 10, and have sunk to 13-17 dead last in the AL East.
Now it appears Red Sox management is prepared to clean house and shake things up, and one of the beneficiaries of this could be OF Jackie Bradley Jr. (Prince George).
Bradley, in 2 previous seasons in Boston, has struggled mightily with the bat, hitting south of .200. While he has excelled with his glove, even once being a finalist for a Gold Glove, his hitting, or lack thereof, has prevented him from earning a permanent job in the Red Sox outfield.
He was sent down to AAA Pawtucket in Spring Training to try and learn how to hit, and it appears he has found his stroke. He is hitting .343 and has posted an OB% of .393. He may now be on the verge of going to Fenway for good, as according to Boston media, Sox OF Allen Craig will be demoted to AAA, to be replaced by Bradley, who was a late scratch from the Pawtucket lineup Saturday night.
Bradley just turned 25 a few weeks ago.
