The Seattle Mariners are on fire right now and have thrust themselves into the race for the playoffs. They now sit only a half game out of the last AL Wild Card thanks to a hot stretch in which they have won 7 of their last 10 games. While most of the attention may be focused on big name Mariners like Felix Hernandez and Robinson Cano, one key cog in the Mariners offense comes right out of the Old Dominion.
Ever since being called up by the Mariners, rookie SS Chris Taylor (Virginia Beach) has helped rejuvinate the Ms offense. Last night, against the White Sox, Taylor had a career high three hits, sending his batting average soaring to .385. He also has hit safely in every game he has started since being called up.
